I was both humbled and blessed to document Gail Dever’s Homecoming and Book Signing. She is a former classmate of mine at Sweetwater High School and has an amazing inspirational and motivational story to tell. Her story can be read in her recently released book: “Gail Devers – My Life In Story: Stronger.” I encourage everyone to go out and get it, it is great reading! In 1990, she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, and under-went radioactive iodine treatment, followed by thyroid hormone replacement therapy. She later returned to the track and at the 1991 World Championships, she won a silver medal in the 100 meter hurdles. She shared her life’s trials and triumphs with the current student body at Sweetwater High School and they left with hearing a message to never give up and to pursue your dreams! Thanks Gail, you are an absolutely amazing role model and friend. You can follow Gail on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ImGailDevers or Twitter @ImaGailDevers.
