Gail Devers, 3-Time Gold Medal Olympic Champion

I was both humbled and blessed to document Gail Dever’s Homecoming and Book Signing.  She is a former classmate of mine at Sweetwater High School and has an amazing inspirational and motivational story to tell.  Her story can be read in her recently released book: “Gail Devers – My Life In Story: Stronger.”  I encourage everyone to go out and get it, it is great reading! In 1990, she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, and under-went radioactive iodine treatment, followed by thyroid hormone replacement therapy.  She later returned to the track and at the 1991 World Championships, she won a silver medal in the 100 meter hurdles.  She shared her […]

Voyager Excursions Whale Watching – Redondo Beach, California

As a native San Diegan, I am almost embarrassed to admit that I had never been on a Whale Watching tour. I really never had any interest to be quite honest. This all changed when I decided to board the Voyager for a day of whale watching a few weeks ago. What a day it was! In three hours, we spotted three Gray Whales, two Humpback whales and hundreds of dolphins. It was amazing to see these mammals up close and personal. And the captain and staff that lead these tours are very knowledgeable, accommodating and nice. If you are interested in seeing some whales, don’t wait too long. The […]

Friends of the Vine – Redondo Beach, California

“There are no strangers here, only friends that you haven’t met yet.” Just like their slogan says, there really are no strangers here and (Fred and Tracy) the owners are amazing people who really consider you family once you walk in the front door.  I guarantee you will love the friendly atmosphere and the wine selection is amazing. So if you are ever in the “The Village” you have to stop by to say “Hello” to your current and future friends!  I love this place and the people! South Bay Wildlife Rescue – Rancho Palos Verdes, California

I recently visited the booth of the South Bay Wildlife Rehab (SBWR) at the “Whale of Day” event that took place at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.  When I first walked up to the booth, I thought the birds that were on display were stuffed animals.  On further review and with a nudge from my Mother-in-law, I took a closer look and then realized that the birds on the perches were in fact real.  In talking with the volunteers, I was given a different perspective of how important this organization is in rehabilitating the birds of California.  I don’t think I could explain what they […]
